Modern innovations and technical advances are changing the roofing industry. The national and worldwide industry leaders came together Feb 16-18 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the 2011 International Roofing Expo (IRE). This was the 124th annual convention drew a record number of experts and roofing professionals. Cutting edge information, live presentations and innovative products were on display.
IRE Director Lindsay Roberts was enthusiastic about the strong attendance. She said, “The unmatched conference program; demonstrations and clinics, along with a strong partnership with NRCA, made this the industry’s must-attend event for 2011.” Conference attendance was up 18 percent compared with last year, a good sign for the roofing industry.
This international gathering allows information and techniques to be shared so homes and businesses in Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, Greeley, Cheyenne and Laramie can benefit from the latest and greatest technology available from the roofing industry. The 3 day convention was filled with learning opportunities and numerous lectures. The keynote speaker, Joe Theismann created excitement and motivated every participant.
Many new and innovative products were on display. A panel of Industry experts selected winners for Best New Products and Best GREEN Products. The new product awards went to three companies. EverCo, LLC won first place for a new skylight guard, Duo-Fast Construction won second place for their DFCR175C gas-powered cordless roofing nailer, and Saiz Tool Co won third place for the Saiz shingle cutting tool.
Green technology also got a lot of attention in another special showcase. Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance won first place for their biotray vegetated roof delivery system, Polyglass USA Inc. won second place for their Polykool® and Polykool® tape, and Maxiflo won third place for their Maxiflow product. Keep an eye out for green technology in cities like Loveland, Greeley, Fort Collins , Windsor, Cheyenne and Laramie. The roofing industry is constantly improving on energy efficient and environmentally smart technology.
Attendees enjoyed many valuable information rich sessions. Some workshops focused on business in today’s economy, ways to improve profits and save time, methods to reduce overall costs, workplace safety and sales and service issues. New topics included green roof technology, solar energy, solar and wind systems, photovoltaics, green washing, and how the green movement affects the roofing industry. Some roofing superstars also took to the podium and shared their insights and successes.
