Not always. It is possible to install a new roof over the existing one, but it’s best practice to remove all the old material in order to determine the condition of the existing deck. If damages here are left unresolved, it could cause problems further down the line with your new roof.
4. How long will my new roof last?
There is no one-age-fits-all answer to this question. Roof lifespans vary greatly based on the type of material used. Asphalt shingles, for example, can last up to 20 – 30 years, while slate tiles can take the homeowner up to 100 years.
